Particle discharge

Gypsum board production does not involve the addition of volatile liquids and other toxic chemicals and Danoline surface finishes are also classified as non-hazardous therefore, the use of Danoline gypsum products does not cause health nuisances.

Gypsum is a product that has the potential to release particles and therefore Knauf Danoline is registered with DIM “Dansk Indeklima Mærkning” (Danish Indoor Climate Labelling). DIM is a voluntary labelling scheme and the first scheme to deal with construction materials in the service phase. The purpose of indoor climate labelling is to improve the indoor climate in buildings. The areas covered are degasification and particulate discharge.

Degasification is given as a time value in days and described as the “declared indoor climate value”. The time value is determined subjectively on the basis of the time it takes the most slowly degassed individual substance to drop below the substance’s smell and irritation threshold.

Particulate discharge is defined by the amount of particles (including fibres) released from the product in the first part of its lifetime.

Knauf Danolines untreated products have a declared indoor climate value of only 10 days and particulate discharge is classified as low. The declared indoor climate value of Knuaf Danolines surface finished products is established at 20 days with particulate discharge also classified as low.
