| Since much of the incoming light in a building is reflected, the surface materials influence to a large extent the way in which the daylight is perceived. The paint on Knauf Danoline products has a low gloss value which ensures good light spreading. At the same time, the white colour tone softens the incident light and reflects it further into the room. Contrary to porous materials, the smooth surface of perforated gypsum panels enables them to remain light-spreading over time.A smooth surface has a lower light reflectance than a structured surface; for example a gloss 15 surface spreads less light than a gloss 5 surface. This is due to the fact that light spreading ability is connected to the roughness or the irregularities of the surface. However, there is a limit to this equation – at some point the roughness is so strong that in stead of spreading the light, the surface creates shades. |
